Overview

Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Coordinator will provide support to existing and planned fundraising activities within the Development Department. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

Department Administration

  • Perform a variety of skilled clerical duties including donor research and scheduling
  • Provide administrative support for large government and private grant proposals
  • Create and maintain donor database; prepare and present reports
  • Create correspondence and letters of acknowledgement to donors
  • Support with scheduling site visits with potential donors and preparing materials

Fundraising Events

  • Serve as point of contact for multiple fundraising events throughout the year; coordinate events-related communication efforts with YPI’s communications team
  • Communicate with vendors, prepare formal requests, and coordinate payment schedules
  • Coordinate volunteer and staff time for events
  • Assist with event planning and coordinating logistics the day of each event

Major Gifts

  • Develop working relationships with private donors and foundation representatives
  • Follow-up with grant makers regarding the status, results, and potential feedback of proposals
  • Track all incoming major gifts in agency database; create reports as needed for various audiences

Board of Directors

  • Serve as YPI administrative liaison with Board of Directors
  • Schedule and coordinate board and committee meetings, including preparing board materials
  • Record and prepare meeting minutes for all board meetings
  • Coordinate all aspects of new board member orientation

Qualifications

The successful candidate is enthusiastic, energetic and a self-starter, possesses excellent interpersonal skills and is incredibly detail oriented.  Position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
 
In addition:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience serving in an administrative role highly desirable
  • 1-3 years of experience in non-profit setting highly desirable
  • Experience in fundraising highly desirable
  • Knowledge of fundraising database platforms preferred
  • Experience in private and corporate philanthropy desirable
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Google platforms and database management skills required
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Perform well under pressure; deadline and results–driven
