Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking full-time Site Coordinator for its Expanded Learning department.  The Site Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee expanded learning program(s) that provide daily academic, recreation, and enrichment activities for students. The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:




  • Manage day-to-day operations of the expanded learning program(s).
  • Organize schedule of academic, recreation, and enrichment activities, and ensure quality programming.
  • Supervise staff of 4 to 10 youth development, athletics and/or enrichment coaches.
  • Train and supervise staff in the expanded learning program(s).
  • Organize and facilitate expanded learning program events and field trips.
  • Establish and maintain communication with regular day and expanded learning program(s) staff, school administrators, YPI staff, students and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program.
  • Recruit students to ensure daily attendance requirements are met.
  • Follow school and YPI procedures  and policies for safe operation of expanded learning program(s).
  • Conduct regular program observations.
  • Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including surveys of students, staff and parents.
  • Collect, review, approve and submit employee timesheets and reimbursements by the specified deadline.
  • Maintain and submit all required program related documentation in a timely manner. This documentation includes but is not limited to: student attendance, snack counts, emergency cards, YPI enrollment and waiver forms, special event forms, supply orders, equipment inventory, and surveys.
  • Conduct regular attendance roster audits.
  • Represent and carry-out the mission of YPI.
  • Travel to and attend staff meeting, school site meetings, off-site meetings, trainings, and events, as scheduled.
  • Maintain documentation relating to staff performance issues; provide guidance to staff as needed.
  • Collect and distribute employee paychecks on pay day.
  • Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate work site and make recommendations for workplace safety to minimize workplace injuries.
  • Report workplace injuries via appropriate forms and procedures.
  •  Implement all YPI policies and procedures.
  • Wear a staff uniform while on duty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Must have high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent education, but Bachelor degree preferred.  Copy of diploma and/or degree will be requested, if hired.
  • If Bachelor degree still in progress, must be currently enrolled in accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 18 college credits.  Transcripts will be requested, if hired.
  • Must have experience in working with elementary school students.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in afterschool programs.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to supervise and work in a team environment.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and/or under time pressure to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to work with varied populations, such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.
  • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive to work site at scheduled time consistently.  If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.  
  • Completion of other required trainings (i.e., worker’s compensation, training against harassment, etc.) when assigned
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (Within 90 Days of Employment).
