Overview

Case Manger (CM-VEAP) will work on the Veteran’s Employment Related Assistance Program (VEAP) grant. Work as part of a team to recruit unemployed/under employed returning Veterans. Provide comprehensive job coaching including career assessment, transferable skills assessment, employment and training plan development and referrals to other social service programs (as needed). Coach Veterans on appropriate civilian and business work place culture. Research civilian career paths that would utilize Veterans’ existing skills. Develop and maintain working relations with partners and other agencies that provide services to Veterans. Represent the center at Veteran initiatives and collaborative meetings and provide businesses with an overview of the America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in depth case management needs assessments to identify the needs for each client to remove barriers of employment.
  • Identify resources and services within the community and make appropriate referrals, facilitating linkage and advocating for clients in order to ascertain appropriate linkage.
  • Submit accurate and timely documentation of all services provided.
  • Work with Workforce Department management team in order to develop and execute targeted outreach strategies.
  • Play a key role in the execution of the Workforce’s program strategies in order to meet contractual, ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Complete case plans and other documentation using project protocol.
  • Provide and maintain appropriate data and files of the clients.
  • Participate in staff meetings, monthly trainings and other department programs as requested.
  • Provide transportation vouchers and other supportive services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and other department programs as requested.
  • Will support participants accessing services by developing a personalized case plan by working with the participants to meet the goals of the case plan.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect cultural differences.
  • Make presentations to promote services and community awareness of AJCC and YPI.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in social work or related field preferred or at least three years’ experience providing case management services in lieu of degree.
  • At least two years working in a non-profit organization environment preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of military culture and ability to perform Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) translations.
  • Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent communication written skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skill; attention to detail; ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task; strong problem-solving ability.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • If applicable, will be required to present current California driver license, proof of acceptable driving record (DMV H-6 printout), and liability auto insurance.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-starter organized and detail-oriented. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
