As a Graphic Designer at Youth Policy Institute (YPI), you will be responsible for the development and execution for wide-ranging design requests, including internal and public-facing projects. You will be part of a small team that creates and delivers high-quality and impactful content for various programs transforming Los Angeles neighborhoods into centers of hope and opportunity.



Graphic Design

  • Demonstrate a high level of creativity, problem-solving ability, and conceptual development through excellent graphic design.
  • Work with program directors to ideate, design, and deliver logos, graphics, merchandise, and other print and digital marketing collateral.
  • Connect design solutions with the goals of specific programs and campaigns.
  • Maintain and track the consistency of YPI’s brand identity across all departments and programs.
  • Research requested subject matter and trademarks to ensure brand integrity.
  • Manage branded grant requirements for funders.
  • Guide the design process to find the best and most practical solutions within schedule and budget constraints.
  • Participate in planning meetings.
  • Present preliminary designs, comprehensive and complete layouts to programs and executive leadership.
  • Request and build out multiple quotes for print projects and present to program directors.
  • Review proofs and make all necessary corrections until final product is delivered that meets or exceeds all required quality standards and objectives.
  • Manage YPI’s media inventory.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.


Web Design / Maintenance

  • Maintain content, copy and brand consistency on the YPI website.
  • Liaison with program directors and team leads on a regular basis to ensure the website reflects the most up-to-date content for each website.
  • Custom code when needed (Wordpress backend)


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or proven 3+ years work experience in design and digital/print marketing.
  • Social media marketing, advertising, and copywriting background is a huge plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing, design, and communication skills
  • Adequate knowledge of graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
  • Adequate knowledge of Wordpress and basic HTML
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • Photography and videography.
  • Video editing skills are a plus and basic knowledge of After Effects is a huge plus.
