Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking a full-time Site Coordinator for its middle and/ or high school expanded learning programs. The Site Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee expanded learning programs that provide daily academic, recreation, and enrichment activities for students. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:


  • Manage day-to-day operations of the expanded learning program.
  • Supervise staff of 4 to 10 tutors, athletics and/or enrichment instructors.
  • Train and supervise staff in the expanded learning program.
  • Organize schedule of academic, recreation, and enrichment activities.
  • Organize and facilitate expanded learning program events and field trips.
  • Establish and maintain communication with regular day and expanded learning staff, school administrators, YPI staff, students and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program.
  • Recruit students to ensure daily attendance requirements are sufficient.
  • Follow school and YPI procedures and policies for safe program operation.
  • Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including surveys of students, staff and parents.
  • Collect, review, approve and submit timesheets by the deadline.
  • Submit all required documentation on a timely basis, including attendance, snack counts, emergency cards, permission forms, and surveys.
  • Represent the mission of YPI to provide quality educational and enrichment experiences for students.
  • Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and trainings as scheduled and required.
  • Basic knowledge of A-G requirements, SAT/PSAT deadlines, and college resources on-site.
  • Ensure college/career curriculums are implemented once a month.
  • High school English and math tutoring experience (advanced math tutoring a plus).
  • Maintain accurate records (i.e., attendance, student registration forms, staff sign-in sheets, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation relating to staff performance issues; provide guidance to staff as needed.
  • Pick-up and issue paychecks on pay day.
  • Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate work site for safety concerns to minimize workplace injuries.
  • Make recommendations for workplace safety.
  • Report workplace injuries via appropriate forms.
  • Implement YPI policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Must have high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent education, but Bachelor degree preferred.  Copy of diploma and/or degree will be requested, if hired.
  • If Bachelor degree still in progress, must be currently enrolled in accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 18 college credits.  Transcripts will be requested, if hired.
  • Must have one or more years of experience working with middle or high school students.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in afterschool programs.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to supervise and work in a team environment.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work with varied populations, such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.
  • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days prior to hire date.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive to work site at scheduled time consistently.  If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.  
  • Must complete CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of other required trainings (i.e., worker’s compensation, training against harassment, etc.) when assigned.

Full-time, regular after school hours.
