Overview

The Youth Policy Institute is currently seeking a full-time temporary Digital Media Specialist for its California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) outreach campaign. The Digital Media Specialist will support with achieving goals of the CalEITC campaign that include: 1) overseeing and posting on all of YPI’s social media accounts in regards to CalEITC campaign 2) creating blog posts that promote the impact that CalEITC can have on the lives of individuals and families 3) assist Communications department with public relations and media events 4) one-on-one interactions with potential CalEITC filers and VITA clients. Will work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Create social media posts and interact with community to promote the availability of the California Earned income Tax Credit.
  • Monitor interaction on social media and on the website, responding to comments and requests.
  • Attend YPI and community events and promote CalEITC.
  • Collaborate on communications, marketing, and organizational campaigns.
  • Engage tax filers and with their permission, tell their stories in blog posts and other social media.
  • Respectfully work with staff, partners and celebrity spokespersons to cross promote CalEITC.
  • Write professional, concise email messages, social media posts and website content to target audiences in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings and/or workshops.
  • Empower and encourage families to make use of all available resources; refer families to appropriate YPI staff and/or services.
  • Will be required to travel between work sites to attend trainings, meetings, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge in using and administering social media accounts at sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and the ability to quickly learn to use other social media as required.
  • Experience creating multi-media products including graphics, videos and podcasts helpful.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress.
  • High School diploma/equivalent preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a community setting or non-profit sector preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, commitment to building relationships with schools, families and the community.
  • Along with English, fluent in any of the following languages: Spanish, Russian, Armenian, Korean, or Thai preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites.
