Overview

The Academic Tutor will work at our YouthSource Central location in Pico Union, working 9:30 am – 2:30 pm Monday – Friday from November 2017 – April 2018.
 
The Academic Instructor will be responsible for using existing curriculum to instruct in basic literacy and numeracy as well as digital literacy, soft skills, and employability skills to a cohort of students.
 
The Academic Instructor will be expected to become a certified CASAS proctor to administer pre and post assessment and will also be responsible for monthly orientations and onboarding with each new cohort. The Academic Instructor will track both attendance and academic progress as well as work with Case Management to ensure student retention.

  • Facilitate curriculum.
  • Maintain student folders and progress reports.
  • Create environment that encourages and supports learning.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers, Case Managers, and other team members to promote effective educational goals.
  • Assist in development and coordination of special assignments and programs.
  • Assist the Academic Manager in duties deemed necessary for meeting program goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to set and maintain boundaries in support of agency/department code of conduct.
  • Meet individual and programmatic benchmarks and outputs.
  • Implement a youth-centered, trauma informed and strength based model of practice.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect cultural differences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
