This position is responsible for managing grants from award through the program lifecycle, including compliance, regulatory and administrative requirements and monitoring reporting requirements in accordance with funding agency’s stipulations and timelines. Reporting directly to the Chief Grants Officer, this person will serve as the liaison between YPI’s Program Directors, Development Department, Finance Department, and the Department of Research and Evaluation. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, be self-directed, and have the ability to manage multiple priorities.


  • Maintain and enhance a system that tracks grants from development, award, implementation, reporting, and closeout.
  • Manage a very large portfolio of funded grants (currently more than 70).
  • Acknowledge receipt of grants and contributions.
  • Coordinate communication about grant requirements between various YPI departments.
  • Ensure that stipulations and guidelines are understood, followed, and met for all grants awarded to the agency.
  • Review and manage the submission of required quarterly or annual reports to granting agencies, working with Program Directors, HR, Finance to obtain information.
  • Develop working relationships with private donors, foundation representatives, government and others;
  • Provide assistance in resolving issues and questions with funding agencies.
  • Manage kickoff and check-in meetings related to awarded grants
  • Conduct interdepartmental meetings to identify and prioritize project needs; coordinate and research grant/report preparation assignments.
  • Report back to the Executive Team progress on grants and areas of need to ensure that Directors and staff in each department are held accountable for meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Coordinate project activities; maintain Salesforce funding database, activity tracking system, and related confidential files.
  • Be able to identify system gaps and make modifications when necessary.
  • Work closely with YPI Compliance staff and Finance staff to ensure that grants awarded are moving along the pipeline.
  • Special projects as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years of direct experience in grants management, including reviewing financial reports
  • Ability to manage 70+ public and private grants that span diverse topics
  • Outstanding project management skills
  • Experience with Salesforce is highly desired
  • Experience in private and corporate philanthropy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of state, federal, county, city and private grant guidelines.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate timelines and deadlines
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills. MS Office and database management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and follow-up skills.
  • Experience coordinating across different departments (e.g., Programs, Finance, Development)
  • Ability to interact with large, dynamic team
  • Perform well under pressure; deadline driven.
