Overview

Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking a part-time Assistant Site Coordinator for its middle and/ or high school expanded learning programs.  The Assistant Site Coordinator will provide support in developing, implementing, and assist with the oversight of the expanded learning programs.  Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the expanded learning program.
  • Help organize schedule of academic, recreation, and enrichment activities, and ensure quality programming.
  • Assist in supervising staff of 4 to 10 youth development, athletics and/or enrichment coaches.
  • Support site coordinator in trainings and supervision of staff in the expanded learning program(s).
  • Support the site coordinator in organizing and facilitating expanded learning program events and field trips.
  • Establish and maintain communication with regular day and expanded learning staff, school administrators, YPI staff, students and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program.
  • Help to recruit students to ensure daily attendance requirements are sufficient.
  • Follow school and YPI procedures and policies for safe program operation of expanded learning programs.
  • Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including surveys of students, staff and parents.
  • Collect, review, approve and submit timesheets and reimbursements by the specified deadline, as needed and in the absence of the site coordinator.
  • Assist the site coordinator in maintaining and submitting all required program related documentation in a timely manner.  This documentation includes but is not limited to: student attendance, snack counts, emergency cards, YPI enrollment and waiver forms, special event forms, supply orders, equipment inventory, and surveys.
  • Support the site coordinator in conducting regular attendance roster audits.
  • Represent and carry out the mission of YPI to provide quality educational and enrichment experiences for students.
  • Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and trainings as scheduled.
  • Provide basic knowledge of A-G requirements, SAT/PSAT deadlines, and college resources on-site.
  • Ensure college/career curriculums are implemented once a month.
  • Provide High school English and math tutoring experience (advanced math tutoring a plus).
  • Collect and distribute employee paychex on payday when necessary.

  • Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate work site for safety concerns and make recommendations to minimize workplace injuries.
  • Report workplace injuries via appropriate forms.
  • Implement YPI policies and procedures.
  • Wear a staff uniform while on duty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent education, but Bachelor degree preferred.  Copy of diploma and/or degree will be requested, if hired.
  • If Bachelor degree still in progress, must be currently enrolled in accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 18 college credits.  Transcripts will be requested, if hired.
  • Must have one or more years of experience working with middle or high school students.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in afterschool programs.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to supervise and work in a team environment.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work with varied populations, such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.
  • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days prior to hire date.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive to work site at scheduled time consistently.  If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.  
  • Must complete CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of other required trainings (i.e., worker’s compensation, training against harassment, etc.) when assigned.
