  • Overview

    The Accounting Analyst position is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an accounting/finance professional who seeks to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced dynamic environment. In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the accounting analyst will obtain exposure and interact with all facets of program, as well as other cross-functional groups within the finance and HQ team. This position works in connection with YPI’s Grant Accountants to support the programs on a business level.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with month-end closing activities including journal entries, month-end reporting, and financial statement generation for budget managers.
    • Support in creation and modification of departmental budgets and revenue forecastings.
    • Provide analysis for actual v. budgeted expenses to determine if projects are on/close to budget.
    • Perform G/L account reconciliations, including identifying, evaluating, and resolving reconciling items.
    • Support in gathering documentation and review for accuracies during annual reviews and audits.
    • Support Controller and Finance Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements.
    • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance preferred or related work experience.
    • Experience with high volume data entry and analysis.
    • Knowledge of GAAP.
    • Knowledge of fund accounting system preferred or ERP level accounting system experience.
    • Must be technologically savvy and comfortable using a paperless document system.
    • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
    • Ability to work in multiple computer databases and possess proficient skills in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Team player, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with varied members for staff and competing deadlines.
    • Must have access to reliable transportation. Some travel between program sites may be required.
