  • Overview

    YPI is seeking a Clinical Social Worker in the Health & Wellness Department to assist with the implementation of a U.S. Department of Education School Climate Transformation grant. The goals of the grant are to increase LEA and schools' capacity to implement a multi-tiered positive behavior framework at each targeted school. The Social Worker will be assigned to the targeted schools and will oversee the implementation of each school's multi-tiered positive behavior framework, working closely with the Principal, teachers, and other staff. The Clinical Social Worker will provide professional development for teachers on the project's Ripple Effects curriculum, as well as provide individual, group, and family counseling/mental health services at the school site. The social worker will be responsible for carrying a clinical caseload across multiple schools and will provide short-term mental health services. The Clinical Social Worker is key to the success of the project at each of their respective school sites, as they will provide training and services to increase each school's capacity to implement the multi-tiered positive behavior framework.

    Responsibilities

    • Implementation of the School Climate Transformation Project and completing project deliverables.
    • Provide clinical mental health services to students across multiple school settings.
    • Identifies and assesses academic problems through analysis of factors impinging on student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and community.
    • Completes psychosocial assessments to assist in the determination of services.
    • Determines and implements appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral–social interactions of students and their families.
    • Collaborates with school staff and other school system personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning.
    • Conducts classroom meetings, psycho-educational social skills groups, and classroom presentations on identified areas of concern for the students.
    • Maintains required clinical records and submits appropriate documents for statistical reports with adherence to program standards in school social work.
    • Completes classroom observations.
    • Serves as liaison with community agencies and assists in fostering communication between.
    • Provide professional development and training to school site teachers, staff and other key stakeholders using the Ripple Effects curriculum the primary prevention and positive behavior promotion framework.
    • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to implement school-wide multi-tiered positive behavior framework.
    • Participate in the collection and analysis of project data for evaluations, data-driven decision-making, and ongoing improvements in services.

    Qualifications

    • Social Worker preferred, with current valid unrestricted CA license and maintain license in good standing throughout employment.
    • If not licensed must be registered with the BBS and have an intern number.

    Desired candidates will possess:

    • General Pupil Personnel Services credential authorizing candidate to work in the field of social work service.
    • Services credential with a specialization in Health, designating social work field of social work service;
    • Basic Pupil Personnel Services credential.
    • Desired candidates will have experience implementing PBIS, “Ripple Effects” curriculum, and/or comparable evidence-based mental health interventions.
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
    • Thrives in fast-paced environment.
    • Access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites If applicable, will be required to present proof of acceptable driving record (current H6 printout), current driver’s license, and proof of liability insurance.
    • Strong computer skills and a complete knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
    • Must pass a criminal background check (Livescan fingerprinting), with both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), prior to beginning employment.
    • Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days.

    Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings and weekends required.
