  • Overview

    The Youth Policy Institute is currently seeking a part-time Promotor/a for its CalEITC outreach campaing. The Promotor/a will support with achieving goals of the CalEITC campaign that include: 1) distributing CalEITC information at 70 schools , 2) Conduct 3 community canvassing days,  and 3) Participate in 30 community events.  The Promotor/a will assist with gathering outreach data and reporting to Asset Building Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in organizing, conducting and participating in outreach activities
    • Support with the delivery of CalEITC information sessions
    • Conduct internal outreach to YPI’s centers
    • Engage community members and stakeholders to participate in ongoing YPI community events.
    • Develop and cultivate relationships with parents, students and community members.
    • Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings and/or workshops.
    • Empower and encourage families to make use of all available resources; refer families to appropriate YPI staff and/or services.
    • Will be required to travel between work sites to attend trainings, meetings, etc.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma/equivalent preferred
    • 1-3 years experience working in a community setting or non-profit sector
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Previous experience with nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and delivery of educational workshops related to nutrition, cooking, healthy eating habits, etc.
    • Demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups, commitment to building relationships with schools, families and the community
    • Bilingual (Spanish) required
    • Access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites.
    • Must pass criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting), with both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), prior to beginning employment.
    • Must present proof of being free of active Tuberculosis prior to beginning employment. All TB clearances must be conducted no more than 60 days prior to start of employment.

    Schedule

    40 hours a week. Includes some evenings and/or weekends.
